Research

My research largely falls in the area of social network analysis and considers computational problems and applications for the statistical modelling of contact-based infectious diseases, such as sexually transmitted diseases. This includes the estimation of key network statistics for aspects of contact/partnership network structure that are important for disease transmission. My research also includes the development of network models consistent with these network statistics that can be used in disease models. Most previous work has centered on exponential random graph models (ERGMs), but current research is focused on the development of statistical revealed preference models (SRPMs), which have their basis in the economic theory of matching markets.

As an applied statistician, I am regularly involved in interdisciplinary projects. This includes a fairly substantial body of work on impact assessment for water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) interventions.
