My research interests lie in machine learning, particularly learning learning from
complex structured information.

<li>My longstanding interest is in <A HREF="/~pondy/projects/agents.shtml">
intelligent agents</a> that learn within 
richly structured worlds, generalise 
from past experience, and have novel exploratory behaviours.

<li>I have done various projects in the area of <a
href="/~pondy/projects/clustering.shtml">clustering algorithms</A>,  including
applications in bioinformatics and web search.
</li>
<li>I have collaborated with the Deaf Studies Research Unit, building an <a
href="/~pondy/projects/signlang.shtml">online version of the NZ Sign Language Dictionary</a>
</li>
